Made a new video for "ShannonKringen" youtube channel about how to eat on a budget and eat healthy food from my perspective. And I believe in free speech and civil liberties. So if anyone disagrees with me that's fine. But I just put my input in because somebody said hey. Do you have a video on how people can do this because they were saying that if somebody doesn't have a lot of money they are forced to eat junk food cuz that's all they can afford but I don't agree. I think that you can actually be on a really tight budget and eat healthy food if you're willing to do certain things that I do. And no matter what my income level is, whether it's low, medium or high. I still believe in eating actual real food and not processed food that comes in boxes

Part of why I love being an artist is that I love the idea of individuality. every single human is completely unique and has their own way of doing things. And that is the most precious thing about artistic expression to me. Whether it's music or visual art or acting or performing arts, singing, dancing, writing every kind of art form that there is. Freedom to explore and experiment and see what happens between the artist as well as the audience and the relationship between the artist and the audience always has fascinated me.
Straddling the middle on the checkerboard... Feel in sync with a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Not buying into either. Extreme on any topic really these days. Not able to conform to the pecking order so having to find a different way to surf these waves of how I I coexist with the rest of humanity right now. Easier with plants and animals than fellow humans right now, but I do have much in common with people with art and music and serving in my career and loving. Taking care of what I'm hired to do and having the freedom of expression in my art and just navigating carefully right now. Feel like I'm walking on eggshells. Very uncomfortable, weird feeling.
I'm a fan of respecting each other's privacy and individuality and supporting people in doing whatever they think is best in all the choices that they make, whether they're big choices or small choices. I'm also a fan of Open-Minded free thinking and liberating yourself from any kind of peer pressure you feel from people that are similar to you or different from you.

I refuse to buy in the polarized version of reality- one extreme or the other. I think the truth is a mixture of all of it . I always question everything I hear on the media- whether it's mainstream or independent or alternative and I wonder what the full truth is about why these storms are happening so badly and I have my theories. And yes, I know what I'm supposed to think about these things, but I don't really buy into just conforming with whatever I'm told. I'm supposed to think about these things ! I MAKE CHOICES BASED ON MY OWN INNER WISDOM NOT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE TELL ME TO DO TO OR HOW TO THINK. Same with certain medical topics and certain nutrition and health topics. I question all of it all the time no matter what . We do have technology that can turbocharge things or minimize things and we also have nature that does what nature does. So here we are . Well my dad is in Port St Lucie Florida and he's going to stay at his house during the storm and him and his neighbor s have made the preparations and they have storm proof hurricane proof windows on their houses. He lives in a suburban fairly flat community with not a lot of trees around and there is a pond nearby with alligators that live in it... My dad is very calm. He's been through many hurricanes and this one might be worse than anything else he's experienced, but he's willing to take the chance so I'm willing to accept the fact that maybe things won't be okay where my dad is and maybe things will be okay where my dad is and life is fragile and life is temporary so I'm willing to face head on if something tragic happens in my dad's area. I think that people are kind of way too addicted to the drama in the media and it is important to help people in disaster areas and do everything we can to help. But I think we need to also remember that if you watch a lot of drama in the news before something happens and they're trying to predict what may or may not happen, it is kind of like a ratings game and what is supposedly reality becomes like a TV show drama soap opera instead of actual reality... My dad says he's all set. They have some of the neighbors have generators. They have extra water, extra food. They're prepared if the power goes out. Hoping their houses don't flood. My dad has two cats so he's going to do everything he can to keep himself and his cats safe and healthy. And if it becomes a tragic disaster area in my dad's neighborhood, I guess he's just willing to face it head on. And I agree with my dad. It's best to not panic about these kind of things and just make your choices and do your best and then see what happens. Also I'm a spiritual person so whatever happens with my dad is going to happen and he is more than just his body. He's also a soul so we'll see what happens and one day at a time.
My dad is in Port St. Lucie, Florida waiting out the storm with preparations with him and his neighbors and literally a Hard rain's gonna fall. My dad is a huge Bob Dylan fan and so am I. So I dedicate this song out hard rain's going to fall by Bob Dylan not to make light of any hideous storm things happening in the world, but to honor the poetic beauty of the lyrics of this song and acknowledging that life is beautiful and painful at the same time and fragile and strong at the same time simultaneously cuz I don't buy into the polarized way of seeing things. I see everything is good and bad and everything in between. Everything is a mixture and there's multilayers and nuances always about everything on this planet

Bio:
Multi Media Artist
Shannon Kringen grew up in San Diego California and Whidbey Island
Washington. She is a self taught poet, multi media visual artist
with a background in Graphic Design. She has worked as a figure model
in Seattle since 1992. She completed her BA degree in Arts and
Literature from Antioch University in 2013. She sees her creative
expression as a tool to connect with community and a way of
increasing self awareness and tap into a deeper wisdom within.
Artist Statement:
I work with
words in writing poetry and cameras and paint improvisationally. I am
very kinesthetic and use my whole body when I create. Im very
sensitive to sound and music and phrases pop into my head and I write
them down and then “riff” off them. I like to say “Catch the
Windsong Spiral Drive, Crack the Code, Left and Right node” my
poems start with one phrase that I hear in my head then I start
writing and adding from there and usually end up with metaphors and
double entendres that surprise and delight me.
In my photography, I fall in love with shape, texture, and light while out wandering. I like to capture what is naturally there but in a way that abstracts it and allows the viewer to notice something new and different about ordinary physical reality. I carefully compose all my photos spontaneously as I am shooting, moving the camera angle until I see what looks like a balanced, dynamic composition.
In my painting, I allow my hands to move intuitively on the canvas creating shapes and textures that feel right. I repeat patterns and choose colors from somewhere beyond my thinking mind. I am very inspired by the repeating patterns I see in nature. Plants and animals move me a great deal.
I also created an art car called “Opal Moonstone” that is intricate patterns of Rhinestone that I hand crafted over the last 3 years. I was recently interviewed about my Multi Media Art by Seattle Magazine:
