I'm enjoying the patterns. I'm seeing of synchronicity involving musicians that I appreciate that connect. San Diego whidbey island vashon island Bainbridge island the music of Tom Petty with the music of Wilco and Pete Droge with the music of The Jayhawks with a trip that I took to San Diego (the place of my birth and first 9 years of my life) 20 years ago involving the movie, Naked in Ashes about the holy men of India and all kinds of different patterns that I'm noticing, and this is just my own intuitive way of navigating my own individual life because I identify as an individual human that is is as free range as possible and leading an improvisational intuitive creative life. So I'm grateful for all the connections I've made and I'm pretty much mostly a loner at heart. But I like to involve myself in community and the way that I serve that which is beyond my individual self is through my art projects and all the different things that I do for a living as a full-time freelance person- i just realized Billy Bob Thornton and Whidbey island Jason Webley and Ismail Bashey all the dots of my life and the ripple effects we all create together. it's my own code for my life i guess- MY OWN PERSONAL mythology. many thanks to Rafe Pearlman, Jesse Sykes and Gina Sala also for the ripples you create that i appreciate. i am not close to very many humans but that is ok. i choose to roam freely and learn as i go.

Local Artist and Art Car Maker Shannon Kringen will lead us in a wearable art making activity - Feel free to bring light colored canvas or cotton item to decorate. We will provide small canvas pouches for all who need. Shannon will lead us in improvisational abstract art making design using sharpie acrylic paint markers!

And Kicking off our open mic is local musician Alejandro Garcia. Alejandro is a Brooklyn transplant with deep Colombian roots. His music explores the cross roads of culture, life and memory. Playing with acoustic rhythms and transforming poems into songs. Alejandro’s music is a mosaic of feelings visions and experiences.

Multi Media Artist Shannon Kringen grew up in San Diego California and Whidbey Island Washington. She is a self taught photographer with a background in Graphic Design. She sees her creative expression as a tool to connect with community and a way of increasing self awareness and tap into a deeper wisdom within. Shannon uses improvisation, intuition and kinesthetics to create.

This evening is presented by Side Rail and Acorn Arts Collective and has been made possible in part from a grant from 4 culture.

Interactive Jack Records Seattle

 

Summer 2025 - After numerous delays, the much anticipated sophomore release from Goddess Kring is finally here! Featuring a large variety of genres in the pop music realm, Amplified Chameleon continues the style and charm of her highly celebrated interactive jack debut. Her knack for poetry and interesting vocal delivery shine in her second full length album. Supaflower explains a little about their process: "I built each track around a specific poem that she would show me. She would bring them into the studio and I'd listen and find inspiration in her words. While I was tracking the backing instrumentation, she would often sit and edit her poems or create additional lines. That would be the first couple of hours. Then we'd switch gears and record her vocals, adding harmonies or backing vocal parts all in one session. We would be so into our work that we'd often continue into the early morning hours. In most cases, these songs were finished in one or two recording sessions." The first single, Kaleidoscope Unicorn, was produced earlier this year and was leaked online by Goddess herself. "It's the perfect summer theme for a melancholic season." Originally based around an acoustic guitar chord pattern, the song eventually evolved into a full scale pop production and has since become a fan favorite! Also featured are a pair of upbeat songs recorded in collaboration with another interactive jack artist: Synthetic Summer. The track "Distracted by Reality V" is a strange and funky sequel to a series of conceptual Synthetic Summer tracks released on their own albums. The album is produced by the beloved studio wizard Supaflower, and you'll find something new with every listen. His fingerprints are all over this release and his attention to detail make it an adventure to listen to. Between his pop sensibility and Goddess KRING's clever and nuanced lyrics, this is a worthy listen.
